Jazz Lyrical Mirror Dance  DANCE DEVELOPMENT Our Jazz Lyrical Dance - Progress In this lesson/rehearsal of our dance, we made a lot of improvements and developed the dance further. We started with spacing. We rotated the dance so that we would be facing where the audience will actually be when we perform it. We also mapped out roughly how big our performance space will be. Before this, we have juts been very spread out performing the dance so now we have shrunk the space. This enables us to get used to the space we will actually have and allows us to focus on our individual spacing so that when we dance we can see if we will end up off stage. When we first went through the dance break, half the group ended up 'off stage' so for a good amount of time we focused on how we could make it so this doesn't happen. We are travelling backwards an awful lot, causing some of the group to end up off stage. We are now doing some of the movements/steps on the spot so that we ...

Jazz Lyrical Mirror Dance  DANCE DEVELOPMENT Our Jazz Lyrical Dance - Progress This lesson was all about finishing the dance and neatening up some of the sections that needed work. We also adapted and changed some of the choreography and placements towards the end of the dance as we wanted everything to run more smoothly as in Jazz Lyrical it is a key element that a dancers movements must be smooth and continuous. With our teacher, Rob, we also broke down the dance break section to tidy up some of the movements so that we are all coordinated with one another and working as a team. We also, as a group, needed to refresh our minds on the choreography in this section as some movements were lost during our first run-through.   VIDEOS OF THE DANCE 7/2/24 - Section Breakdown 1 7/2/24 - Section Breakdown  2 What Went Well?      Jazz Lyrical Mirror Dance  DANCE DEVELOPMENT Our Jazz Lyrical Dance - Progress In this rehearsal, we continued to develop the dance break section that we learnt and added last lesson. This time we actually staged it by getting put into places. When we were put into places, it is the shape of a cross. This is a unique shape and works nicely with the dance and contrasts all the previous positions in the dance. Before the dance break there is an instrumental part in the song where the timing is different to the rest of the dance. For this section, we experimented with timing and created a canon movement while in the cross positioning.  VIDEOS OF THE DANCE 31/1/24 - Full Run-through What Went Well? Full Run-through : In my partner and I’s duet section, I think I personally have improved on the way I am engaging more with the dance and expressing myself more while I am dancing. I think this is because I am getting a lot more confident with the dance. When I watc...
