Technical Rehearsal for Spotlight: Tap Dance
Main Parts Arising from the Rehearsal
- Volume: In our classroom and lesson time, we were used to tapping at a volume where only our class needs to hear the sounds of us tapping. This meant that when it came to the dress rehearsal, Rob spoke to us after we did a run-through and said that we needed to increase our volume by tapping louder so that the audience can also hear us clearly. We have to now consider how far away we are from the audience and the volume of the music.
- Looking at the floor: During our dress run, I had the full costume on, meaning I had sunglasses on and the stage was quite dimly lit and I still was nervous about the number so I was firstly looking at the floor as it was dark and secondly because I was checkin I was doing the right steps. Now that I had a run-through to get a feel of the stage, wearing sunglasses will be okay as I now know where I need to stand. I just need to remember to raise my eye line and have confidence in myself that I know the steps.
- Spacing: Spacing was a slight problem that became recognised during the dress rehearsal. We quickly realised we had to travel further as we started further back upstage then we had been rehearsing. We just needed to take bigger steps than we were. Once we were doing the group work, we needed to make sure we were spread out across the whole of the stage.
